Volcanoes, Rainforest -
and then the Beach!

A personalized adventure through a sampling of Costa Rica's most popular attractions:  Poas Volcano, La Paz Waterfall Gardens, Arenal Volcano and National Park, famous crocodiles of Tarcoles River, Manuel Antonio Naitonal Park.

Day 1 Arrive San Jose.  Airport welcome and transfer to hotel.

Day 2 Morning tour to the top of Poas Volcano. After a short hike and a look into the crater, you take a mountain road through the pretty little towns of Grecia, Sarchi (home of Costa Rican oxcarts), and Zarcero (whimsical topiary garden in the main square). Continue over the mountains  to Arenal, Costa Rica's most active volcano, where you relax with a swim at Tabacon Hot Springs and spend the night at Volcano Lodge. Breakfast, lunch, dinner.

Day 3 Typical program includes a hike to the bottom of a steep canyon to enjoy a dip in the pool at the base of Fortuna Waterfall and a drive along the lake to Arenal Observatory Lodge to observe fresh volcanic activity. This can be changed to suit your interests. If you opt for horseback riding there will be an additional charge for the horse rental. Everything else included.  Breakfast, lunch, dinner.

Day 4 Depart after breakfast for the Pacific Coast following a scenic route through montane forest to San Ramon, then south through the fruit capital of Orotina to the Pacific lowlands. Stop at the Taracoles River bridge to see the enormous crocodiles that congregate here. Lunch at a restaurant near the ocean, then follow the coastal route south to Manuel Antonio National Park. Overnight at a hotel with beach or ocean view.  Breakfast, lunch.

Day 5 Enjoy the beaches and rain forest of Manuel Antonio.  Your concierge can help you arrange tours, horseback riding, deep sea fishing, and kayaking.

Day 6 One more day in paradise.
